Rock Bands & Ensembles

Student ensembles and rock bands are an integral part of our program, and an essential key to excelling in music. Performing in an ensemble is like playing on a team. It teaches skills that cannot be learned alone in the practice room, and creates comradeship among band members and shared goals. Band members learn valuable life skills such as the importance of teamwork, listening skills, critical thinking, and much more. One of the most fulfilling results of this program is that band members often become life-long friends.

Music Academy Foundation student ensembles run throughout the year. In order to join one of our ensembles or rock bands, students must be recommended by their private instructor or pass an audition. Our ensembles represent some of the best students at the MAF, and perform a variety of different genres including jazz, pop, rock, and more.

Each group meets weekly under the guidance of one of our world-class instructors to practice repertoire in preparation for our Winter Concert and Summer Recital & Fundraiser Dinner, and periodically perform at other events like street fairs. As the culmination of our summer rock bands camp, students perform at a Friday Night Promenade in Garden City on Seventh Street.
