Our Mission
The mission of The Music Academy Foundation is to make our community a performing arts and cultural hub on Long Island by providing valuable resources, such as music lessons, student bands and ensembles, music therapy, and a musical theatre program; providing instruments to under-served schools; funding educational outreach, including scholarships and a pre-college jazz program; spearheading concert series; and connecting students with world-class musicians and educators.
Our HISTORY
The Music Academy Foundation (MAF) was founded by educator and double bassist Dr. Peter Coco in 2017. As a non-profit organization, MAF is dedicated to enriching our community and building a better world through the power of music and education. Our programs include music lessons with world-class educators, rock bands and mixed ensembles, a comprehensive musical theatre program, Music Therapy for clients of all ages, a Saturday jazz program, educational outreaches, master classes, and much more. Every day, throughout the year, we are Changing Lives Through Music.
In order to provide the highest level of music education available, we connect world-class music educators—all of whom hold music degrees from some of the country’s finest institutions—with students of all ages and levels. We offer a diverse array of substantive programs for individuals, groups, and schools.
Our faculty and guest artists represent some the best that New York has to offer, and include college professors, private and public school teachers, as well as performers who have toured and recorded extensively, and most importantly all of whom share our values and passion for enriching our world through music.
